Thank you Niklas for a really insightful and honest post.

I have had a similar realisation recently which really shocked me. How could I rationalise the fact that I help other people to “solve their problems” and yet I am not “better” than them.

I found it really helpful to get to grips with this tension by internalising the quote by Thomas Carlyle, “Every man is my superior in that I may learn from him”. I also practiced an outward focused, loving-kindness meditation while I was out in public wishing good things upon strangers and noticing positives or things that I admired about them. I also found it was helpful to imagine how my strengths might be considered negatives or weaknesses and that perhaps “better” is in the eye of the beholder.
